HomeMy WebLinkAbout07-042I 07-042 RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING COMMUNITY ACTION AGENCY, INC.'S 40 YEARS OF SERVICE TO BUTTE COUNTY COMMUNITIES WHEREAS, the Community Action Agency of Butte County, Inc. (CAA) was first established in January 1967 in accordance with the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 to eliminate the causes and effects of poverty; and WHEREAS, low-income residents of Butte County have benefited from the broad scope of services developed and delivered by the CAA; and WHEREAS, the CAA has provided over 20 million pounds of food to low-income families with lack of food security; and WHEREAS, the CAA has improved the energy-efficiency of over 50,000 homes of low-income families through weatherization services; and WHEREAS, the CAA has assisted in averting crisis in the lives of over 25,000 families through emergency utility and home repair assistance services; and WHEREAS, the CAA has promoted the independence and security of elderly residents through the provision of over 2.5 million nutrition meals to both home bound and mobile seniors; and WHEREAS, the CAA has effectively assisted over 350 families to make necessary life changes at the Esplanade House that broke the cycle of homelessness for them and their children. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Butte County Board of Supervisors acknowledges the Community Action Agency of Butte County, Inc., for its 40 years of service and efforts to improve the lives of low-income residents of Butte County and encourages residents to participate in recognition activities.
