DIRECTOR UPON REITREMENT FROM BUTTE COUNTY
WHEREAS, William (Bill) Curry, General Services Director for Butte County,
announced his retirement as of Friday, Apri16, 2007; and
WHEREAS, Bill began his career with the County of Butte as the Manager of
Purchasing Services, October 21, 1998; and
WHEREAS, Bill advanced through his career to a provisional appointment as Deputy
Administrative Officer on January 8, 2001, and then to General Services Director on December
29, 2001; and
WHEREAS, Bill contributed significantly to the success of General Services through the
implementation of the following: (1) a Customer Service Program, (2) electronic Purchase
Requisitions, (3) contract templates and contracts training to departments, (4) greater
departmental purchasing authority, (5) opening of a Surplus Store, and (7) the Cal Card
program; and
WHEREAS, Bill served on the Southside Task Force and assisted in the development of
the Southside Community Center as well as played a key role in the Courthouse Construction
Project; and
WHEREAS, Bill was a key participant in the 2004 Solar Energy Project for which the
county continues to receive energy benefits, as well as national recognition; and
WHEREAS, Bill obtained US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Green Power
Partnership status for Butte County.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that this Board, on its own behalf, and on
behalf of the residents of the County of Butte, wishes to express to William Curry sincere
appreciation for the numerous accomplishments, the years of dedication, and the outstanding
service rendered to the residents of the County of Butte, and further wishes him warmest regards
for his retirement.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of
California, this 24th day of Apri12007, by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Connelly, Kirk, .Josiassen,
