OPPORTUNITIES AT BEALE AIR FORCE BASE AND IN SUPPORT OF
LOCATING CYBER COMMAND CENTER AT BEALE AIR FORCE BASE
WHEREAS, Beale's economic impact totals over $700 million dollars annually to
Northern California; and
WHEREAS, Beale AFB is the new home for the Global Hawk unmanned
reconnaissance aerial vehicle that will bring 1,000 new military and civilian jobs and nearly $60
million in new construction and infrastructure to Northern California; and.
WHEREAS, Beale AFB is an essential element of the Intelligence, Surveillance,
and Reconnaissance Community, and has the Global Communications Center; and because of
this Beale AFB has the wiring and broadband infrastructure to accommodate Cyber Command
requirements; and
WHEREAS, Beale AFB is ideally located and has more than adequate space
available, situated on 23,000; acres and
WHEREAS, Secretary of the Air Force Michael W. Wynne announced November
2, 2006, the United Sates Air Force is creating the new Air Force Cyber Command; and
WHEREAS, an estimated 10,000 military and civilian personnel would make up
Cyber Command with additional corporate offices, research labs, and other support
organizations contributing to the economic impact.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the Board of Supervisors of the County
of Butte, State of California, supports and embraces the goals of Beale Air Force base in
its quest for placement of the Cyber Command on base and the encouragement of
community leadership to support the endeavors of acquiring the project.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte,
State of California, on this 11th day of September 2007, by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Connelly, Josiassen, Yamaguchi, Kirk and Chair Dolan
