OF CALIF(3RNIA ',,~;.•~ Resolution No. RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE WATERSHED AND CRITICAL HABITAT ASSESSMENT STUDY FOR THE COUNTY OF BUTTE AND ADJACENT COUNTIES 07-152 WHEREAS, the Legislature and the Governor of the State of California have provided funds through Proposition 84, the Safe Drinking Water, Water Quality and Supply, Flood Control, River and Coastal Protection Bond Act of 2006 to the Sierra Nevada Conservancy for programs that improve the environmental, economic and social well-being of the Sierra Nevada Region; and WHEREAS, the Butte County Department of Development Services and Department of Water and Resource Conservation staff have worked with the California Department of Fish and Game and Gallaway Consulting, lnc. to develop a grant application package entitled Watershed and Critical Habitat Assessment Study; and WHEREAS, this study evaluates the health of the watersheds through the use of migratory deer as an indicator species; and WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors is currently reviewing and updating the General Plan and Zoning Ordinance (Butte County General Plan 2030); and WHEREAS, data regarding the migratory patterns of the deer herds will provide important information needed for the General Plan 2030 process; and WHEREAS, data from this project will further refine the migratory deer herd mapping currently under contract with Gallaway Consulting and associated with the General Plan 2030 process; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte support the Watershed and Critical Habitat Assessment Study and authorize the submittal of the application package to the Sierra Nevada Conservancy by the Department of Development Services in cooperation with the Department of Water and Resource Conservation, California Department of Fish and Game and Gallaway Consulting, Inc. to obtain funding provided under Proposition 84.
