RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING OCTOBER 2007 AS
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH
WHEREAS, violence against women and children continues to become more prevalent as a
social problem due to the imbalance of power due to gender and age; and
WHEREAS, the problems of domestic violence are not confined to any groups or groups of
people but cross all economic, racial, sexual orientation, and social barriers and supported by
social indifference; and
WHEREAS, the crime of domestic violence violates an individual's privacy, dignity, security,
and humanity, due to systematic use of physical, emotional, sexual, psychological and economic
control and/or abuse; and
WHEREAS, the impact of domestic violence is wide ranging, directly affecting families, our
communities and society as a whole;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors, in
recognition of the important work done by domestic violence programs, do hereby proclaim the
month of October 2007 as Domestic Violence Awareness Month and urge all citizens to actively
participate in the scheduled activities and programs sponsored by the Butte Family Violence
Prevention Council to work toward the elimination of personal and institutional violence.

2007 by the following votes:
AYES: Supervisors Connelly, Kirk, Josiassen, Yamaguchi, and Chair Dolan
