RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
OF THE COUNTY OF BUTTE AUTHORIZING AN APPLICATION
FOR LOCAL GROUNDWWATER ASSISTANCE FUNDING PURSUANT TO
THE WATER SECURITY, CLEAN DRINHING WATER, COASTAL AND
BEACH PROTECTION ACT OF 2002 TO EVALUATE THE
FEASIBILITY OF SUPPLYING STATE WATER PROJECT
TABLE A WATER TO
THE CITY OF CHICO AREA
WHEREAS, the Legislature passed Assembly Bill 303 in 2000 to assist local
agencies in the development of groundwater studies, groundwater monitoring and
groundwater management programs; and
WHEREAS, this Legislation has been codified under California State Water Code
as Sections 10795 et seq. as the Local Groundwater Assistance Act; and
WHEREAS, the Local Groundwater Assistance Act Grant Program has been
appropriated funding in the 2008 State budget through the Water Security, Clean Drinking
Water, Coastal and Beach Protection Act of 2002 (Water Code Section 79560 et seq; and
WHEREAS, grant funding is being made available on a competitive basis to fund
local groundwater management programs; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Water and Resource Conservation has developed
a grant application to evaluate the feasibility of using State Water Project Table A water
to off-set extensive groundwater pumping in azeas of the County, specifically the-Chico
azea; and
WHEREAS, the infarmatian developed through this feasibility study will
contribute to the improvement of overall groundwater management within the County;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Supervisors of the
County of Butte hereby authorize and direct the Department of Water and Resource
Conservation to prepare the necessary data, make investigations, execute and file an
application with the California Department of Water Resources to complete a feasibility
study regarding the use of State Water Project Table A water for the Chico area.

11th day of December 2007 by the following vote:
