RESOLUTION RATIFYING PROCLAMATION OF A LOCAL EMERGENCY
AND REQUEST THE GOVERNOR PROCLAIM THE COUNTY OF BUTTE TO BE IN A
STATE OF EMERGENCY
WHEREAS, Section 8-5 of the Butte County Code empowers the Chief Administrative
Officer of the County of Butte to proclair~~ th;; existence, or threatened existence of a local
emergency when said County is affected, or likely to be affected, by a local emergency and the
Board of Supervisors is not in session, a.r~d
WHEREAS, conditions of extreme peril to the safety of persons and property have
arisen within said County, in that commencing on or about 9:00 am on Friday, January 4, 2008,
caused by heavy rain, high winds and ~r,icespread power outages; and
WHEREAS, the aforesaid conditions of extreme peril did warrant and necessitate the
proclamation of the existence of a local :emergency; and
WHEREAS, at the time of the ccn;mencement of the said local emergency the Board of
Supervisors was not in session (and coulc': not immediately be called into session); and
WHEREAS, the Chief Administrative Officer of the County of Butte did proclaim the
existence of a local emergency within said County on the 4th day of January, 2008; and
WHEREAS, it is hereby found ~il`~ut local resources are unable to cope with the effects of
said emergency.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HERt".B~ PROCLAIMED AND ORDERED that the
Proclamation of Existence of a Local `~n:;,~rgency and request to the Governor to declare a State
of Emergency, as issued by said Chief ~.cministrative Officer, is hereby ratified and confirmed
by the Board of Supervisors of the Cour+~ c' Butte; and
IT IS FURTHER PROCLAIMED t°_~1D ORDERED that the Proclamation of Existence of
a Local Emergency shall be deemed to ;crtinue to exist until its termination is proclaimed by
the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte; and
IT IS FURTHER PROCLAIMED ~!~!U ORDERED that during the existence of said local
emergency the powers, functions and d~at:es of the emergency organization of this County shall
be those prescribed by state law, by c.~._ ~_.,:, c~~dinances, and resolutions of this County, and by
the County of Butte Emergency Plan, arc
I'T IS FURTHER ORDERED tl-air ~_o?cy of this resolution be forwarded to the State
Director of the Office of Emergency S~;r~,i~:e~.
IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that ,.'ahn H. Gulserian, Emergency Services Officer of the
County of Butte, is hereby designated as rl~e authorized representative of the County of Butte
for the purpose of receipt, processing, ar::: coordination of all inquiries and requirements
necessary to obtain available State anG r~derai assistance.

January 2008, by the following vote:
