HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-040[BOARD OF ~UPERV[~ORS COUNTY OF BUTTE, STATE OF CALIFORNIA RE~solufion No. 08-040 RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF BUTTE TO APPROVE THE 2008 BASIN MANAC:EMF.NT OBJECTIVES DEVELOPED BY THE BUTTE COUNTY WATER ADVISORY COMMITTEE FOR THE SUB-INVENTORY AREAS OF BUTTE COUNTY IN ACCORDANCE WITH BUTTE COUNTY CODE CHAPTER 33A WHEREAS, the Legislature finds and declares that groundwater is a valuable natural resource in California and should be managed to ensure both its safe production and its duality; and WHEREAS, it is the intent of the Legislature through the passage of AB3030 {Stats 1992) codified as Water Code X10750 et secy. to encourage local agencies to work cooperatively to manage groundwater resources within their jurisdictions; and WHEREAS, in February 2004 the County of Butte codified parameters for groundwater management in Chapter 33A of the Butte County Code,; and WHEREAS, the Board finds that the protection of the groundwater resource for beneficial use within the County is of primary concern to the residents of the County for the protection of their health, welfare and safety; and WHEREAS, the Board further declares the beneficial use and maintenance of the groundwater and protection of recharge pones is of critical importance to the economy and environment of the County; and WHEREAS, it is the intent of Chapter 33A that there be one (1) countywide adaptive management plan, incorporating all specific Basin Management Objectives for the individual sub-inventory units; and WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors adopted the original countywide Butte County Basin Management Objectives on July 25, 200b, and WHEREAS, the members of the Butte County Water Advisory Committee and the Butte County Water Commission have voted to present this 2008 countywide adaptive management plan to the Board of Supervisors for approval; NO~','1'HEREFORE, BE 1'T RESOI.Vh:D, that the board o(~Supervisors ofthc County of Buttc hcrcby adopt the Butte County Basin Managcmcnt Objcctivcs for ZOOS Cor the identified sub-inventory areas of Buttc County.
