RESOLUTION IN RECOGNITION OF JEANNE GRAVETTE, DIRECTOR-
HUMAN RESOURCES, UPON RE"TIREMENT FROM BUTTE COUNTY
WHEREAS, Jeanne Gravette, Director-Human Resources, announced her
retirement with her last date of employment of May 2, 2008; and
WHEREAS, Jeanne began her career with the County of Butte as the Assistant
Director-Personnel on February 1, 1999; and
WHEREAS, Jeanne was appointed Interim Director-Human Resources in
October 2000, and has served as Director-Human Resources since February 17, 2001;
and
WHEREAS, Jeanne, working together with County staff, has enhanced the
services of the Human Resources Department in areas of supervisory training, labor
relations, recruitment and selection, compensation and classifications, complaint and
conflict resolution, civil rights compliance, and customer service; and
WHEREAS, Jeanne's creativity, dedication and leadership helped to guide
Butte County in the completion of a comprehensive study of the County's
classifications and salaries resulting in changes that updated the job specifications and
the total compensation package for the hard working employees of Butte County which
helped to enhance the services to the citizens of Butte County; and
WHEREAS, Jeanne has always encouraged the Human Resources staff to be
creative in seeking better ways to serve the County and its citizens which led to a
substantially improved recruitment process, partnerships with local educational
communities, merger of the County's payroll services with Human Resources,
automation of many human resources processes, and implementation of a job analysis
program for internal testing; and

WHEREAS, Jeanne has been working in public service for twenty-five years
and is recognized by other California county Human Resources Directors as both a
leader and dependable source of information for public human resource services; and
WHEREAS, Jeanne has been a highly regarded member of the leadership team
of Butte County, and her expertise and collaborative style have served Butte County
and its citizens well over the past nine years; and
WHEREAS, the creativity and dedication that Jeanne employed to resolve the
myriad of issues confronting any HR Director will now be directed toward the pursuit
of jewelry making, home decorating and shoe shopping.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That this Board, on its own
behalf, and on behalf of the residents of the County of Butte, wish to express to Jeanne
Gravette sincere appreciation for her dedication and outstanding service rendered to the
residents of the County of Butte, and further wishes her warnlest regards upon her
retirement.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte this
22nd day of April, 2008, by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Connelly, Dolan, Kirk, Yamaguchi, and Ghair Josiassen
