HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-048~~~is~~~~#~~ •s' ~t SUP, r,, '~i ©~r~ ~~ ~# gG1ARD OF ~UPERVI~ORS •'~ : : * COUNTY OF BUTTE, STATE OF CALIFORNIA . ~' •~ +•, ~•,•' ~j~i ~`•~~'~'''•"•'"''~ ••• Resolution No.oB-048 •.., eoUK ,.. ~~;~'~~~~~ RF,SOLtITION IN SUPPORT OF NEGOTIATING A GRANT AGREEMENT WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF WATER KESOURCES UNDER PROPOSITION 50, THE WATER SECURITY, CLEAN DR[NKING WATER, AND COASTAL AND BEACH PROTECTION ACT OF 2002 WHEREAS, the California electorate approved Preposition 50, the Water Bond initiative in November 2002 that provided an additional $3.44 billion in grant and Loan funds fer water and resource related projects, and WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors approved the Director of Water & Resource Conservation to pursue 1-unding for Butte County projects under Proposition 50 in Resolution No. 02-179, and WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors approved the Integrated Water Resources Plan (IWRP) developed by the Department of Water & Resource Conservation in Resolution No. OS-06'7, which identified several projects requiring additional funding which could be provided by the Integrated Regional Water Management Programs section of Proposition 50; and WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors subsequently approved Resolution 06-083 which authorized the Department of Water and Resource Conservation to i31e a consolidated application under Step II of the Prop 50 Integrated Regional Water Management Program; and WHEREAS, two projects; the Paradise Ridge Water Supply Reliability and Public Safety Project and the Tuscan Aquifer Monitoring, Recharge, and Data Management Prajeet that are included in the Butte County IWRP have been selected by the Department of Water Resources to receive funding under the Integrated Regional Water Management Program section of Proposition 50; and WHEREAS, the Department of Water and Resource Conservation has successfully negotiated with the Department of Water Resources to contract directly to receive funding for these projects; and WHEREAS, as a component of the contracting process the Department of Water Resources requires a resolution by the County authorizing the Director of the Department of Water and Resource Conservation to enter a grant agreement with the California Department of Water Resources. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the (.'ounty of Butte hereby authorize the Department of Water and Resource Conservation to negotiate a grant agreement with the Department of Water Resources to accept grant funding under Prop 50, pursuant to CEQA review of both projects and subject to approval of the coniract by the Board and approval of the contract language by County Counsel and the Auditor Controller.
