Ct'~l.il'~+t'`t'Y `~?F ,~T`~`'~, STA~'~ 4F CAL.tt CtRNto .~ 4 !~ r~~~1!RRa~t~'~~~w' ~r'~a~ ~es~lufion No. 08-049 RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF BUTTE PROCLAIMING MAY 2008 AS WATER AWARENESS MONTH IN BUTTE COUNTY WHEREAS, water is a resource that is vital to the people, economy, wildlife and environment of the County of Butte; and WHEREAS, the Board has recognized the importance of water within our county through the passage of various ordinances for its protection, including Chapter 238, the well-spacing ordinance; Chapters 33, the groundwater conservation ordinance; and Chapter 33a the Basin Management Objectives (BMO} ordinance; and WHEREAS, it is essential that the County of Butte strive to make the best use of its water supply through conservation and efficiency measures; and WHEREAS, the Board recognizes the importance of working together to increase the public's understanding of water-related issues and the need to -~~anage and conserve this valuable resource for future generations; and WHEREAS, the Board understands that through sound water management and long-range planning today we can secure our community's water supply to maintain a healthy economy and environment for our residents into the future; and WHEREAS, California is marking its 21'` annual observance of May as Water Awareness Month, promoting the message, "Use Water Wisely."
