RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING CHAIR TO SIGN
NATIONAL MAY AS MENTAL HEALTH MONTH AND MAY $T" AS CHILDREN'S
MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS DAY PROGLAMATION
WHEREAS, addressing the complex mental health needs of adults, older adults, children, youth, and
families today is fundamental to the future of Butte County.
WHEREAS, the need for comprehensive, coordinated mental health services for children, youth, and
families places upon our community a critical responsibility;
WHEREAS, it is appropriate that a month for all Butte County citizen's and special day for children should
be set apart each year for the direction of our thoughts toward mental health and wellness for all ages;
WHEREAS, Butte County Department of Behavioral Health, in collaboration with allied agencies, public
and private, promotes tailored services such the Search Program for adults and and Connecting Circles
of Care, for children and adolescents, is joining with the Butte community in caring for the mental health
needs of adults, older adults, children, youth and families ;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLOVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors, do hereby
proclaim May as Mental Health Month and May 8th, Children's Mental Health Awareness Day and urge
our citizens and all agencies and organizations interested in meeting every adult, older adult and child's
mental health needs to unite this month in the observance of such exercises as will acquaint the people of
Butte County with the fundamental necessity of year-round support and promotion of mental health and
wellness for all citizens of Butte County.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 6th day of May 2008, by
the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Connelly, Dolan, Kirk, Yamaguchi, and Chair Josiassen
