COUNTY RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING AUGUST 2008
AS CHILD SUPPORT AWARENESS MONTH"
WHcf2EAS, children are our most precious resource and become healthy. productive. and wel!-
adjusted adults through the support and nurt:aring of ,heir families. the Butte County Department of Child Support
Services provides critical services to children and families ensuring children have the opportunity to reach their full
potential as productive adults and members of our community, and
WHEREAS, Butte County s child support program provides an important opportunity for non-custodial
parents to be a positive `orce .n the lives of their children. and
WFiERcAS, in 2008. there are over 15.423 active cases in Butte County alone in which the services of
the Butte County Department cf Child Support Services are required. in over 12.711 of those cases paternity has
been established for the children. in aver 12.420 of those cases child support orders have been established and
parents have paid ever S 0,759.678.27 toward the support of their children and
WHEREAS, butte County's child support professionals successfully implemented a new statewide
automation system in October of 2007 t'nat stopped federal automation penalties from being passed to Butte
County, and
WHEREAS. Butte County child support professionals have met or exceeded the federal performance
measure by which all child support programs in the state are measured: and
W~iER`=AS, Butte Gounty is strongly committed to seef~ing ways to increase the efficiency and
effectiveness ofi its c'nild support program by implementing innovative programs and systems: and
NOW, TF~EREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED At\ID PROCLAIMED that the Soard of Supervisors of the
County of Butte does hereby recognize th,e month of August 2G08 as Child Support Awareness Month" and
commends parents whc regularly pay their thud support and the Department of Cl^,ild Support Services for their
steadfast commitment to improving the cua!ity of life for Butte County s children.
