RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE MONTH OF 5EPTEMBER 2008 AS
LIBRARY CARD SICN-UP MONTH IN BUTTE COUNTY
WHEREAS, a Butte County Library card opens up a world of opportunities for
education, information, inspiration, and recreation for people of all ages
WHEREAS, a library card provides access to a wealth of books, magazines, CDs,
DVDs, computers, the Internet and more;
WHF,REAS, a library card allows residents to use numerous online databases 24 hours a
day from home, work, or school through the Library website
WHEREAS, children wha have library cards and use the library perform better in
school;
WHEREAS, libraries transform communities;
WHEREAS, a library card, which provides all of these extraordinary benefits, is
available to every Butte County resident free of charge;
WHEREAS, cover 93,600 residents are already registered for Butte County 1_ibrary cards;
NOW, 'T'HEREFORE, BE I'T RESOLVED, by the Butte County Board of Supervisors
that the month of September 200$ be recognized as Library Card Sign-Up Month in Butte
Comity, and that residents are encouraged to sign up for the smartest card a person can
have a library card.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of
California, on this 9tt~ day of August 2008 by the following vote:
