RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE
CHICO GUILD -NORTH STATE SYMPHONY
WHEREAS, The Chico Symphony Guild, now called the Chico Guild -North State
Symphony begins its 50th anniversary with this first concert of the year 2009 on
February 22; and
WHEREAS, the Chico Guild will sponsor its annual Young Artist Audition as it has for
almost 50 years on February 15 at the Performing Art Center (PAC) on the Chico State
Campus: and
WHEREAS, the Guild was formed by compassionate volunteers to support the
orchestra, promote the attendance at concerts, and assist and encourage young artists
and provide scholarships to music students in the orchestra; and
WHEREAS, Guild members provide housing and refreshments for out-of -town
orchestra members for rehearsals and performances of the NSS; and
WHEREAS, the Guild's major fundraiser, the Scholarship Fanfare Plus dinner, silent
auction and live classical music event will celebrate its Golden Anniversary on March 21
at the Bell Memorial Union, and the Chico Guild honors the generous donors to the
North State Symphony and the members of the entire orchestra at an annual
champagne reception after the May 16 concert; and
WHEREAS, the Chico Guild -North State Symphony provides for enhanced cultural
and artistic opportunities throughout the year; and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Butte County Board of Supervisors
hereby recognizes the week of February 22, 2009 as "Chico Guild -North State
Symphony week" within Butte County.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 27th day of January 2009 by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Connelly, llolan, Kirk, Lambert, Yamaguchi
