HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-041resolution RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF BUTTE AUTHORIZING AN APPLICATION FOR CALFED SCIENCE PROGRAM FUNDING FOR AN ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING PROGRAM PILOT PROJECT WHEREAS, Butte County is an important watershed of origin for the Bay-Delta System; and WHEREAS, the sustainability of water resources is critical for the economy, communities and ecosystems of Butte County; and WHEREAS, deternuning the environmental water demand for current ecologic conditions in Butte County is critical component for water resource management, and; WHEREAS, a scientific methodology is needed to assess the potential ecosystem impacts from changes to water management and climate conditions; and WHEREAS, the CALFED Science Program is seeking to invest fianding far projects that will fundamentally advance the understanding of the complex Bay-Delta System; and WHEREAS, the 2004 Environmental Monitoring Plan provides the means to estimate the current ecosystem water demand and the ability to assess the impact of changes in climatic conditions and water management including changes to the Bay-Delta System that may effect Butte County; and WHEREAS, implementation of the Environmental Monitoring Plan will provide the means to estimate current ecosystem water demands and the ability to assess changes in climatic conditions and water management; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte '1 . - hereby authorize and direct the Department of Water and Resource Conservation to prepare the necessary data, conduct studies, execute and file and application with the CALFED Science PragraFn to fund an Enviroiunental Monitoring Program.
