HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-059resolution WHEREAS, Freemasonry is the one of the largest and oldest secular fraternal organizations in the world dedicated to serving family, country, and mankind; and WHEREAS, some of the f rst miners and settlers in Butte County were Masons who promoted freedom of religion, freedom of speech, the importance of education and service to the community; and WHEREAS, in 1908, a time capsule containing coins, membership rosters, and local newpapers was inserted in the original cornerstone of Oroville Lodge No. 103 located at 1462 Myers Street in Oroville; and WHEREAS, on April 11, 2049, the Oroville Lodge No. 103 held a Centennial Celebration and cornerstone rededication attended by Masonic Officers from throughout the State of California and by Larry Adamson, the Grand Master of California; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Butte County Board of Supervisors recognizes the current master of the lodge, Virgle Gage and appreciates the organizations ongoing service to the Butte County and the City of Oroville; PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 21st day of Apri12009 by the following vote: AYES: Supervisors Dolan, Kirk, Lambert, Yamaguchi and Chair Connelly NOES: None ABSENT: None NOT VOTING: None ~,ex Sill Connelly, Chair Butte County Board of Supervisors ATTEST: Gr~ An, By. strative Officer RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION AND CORNERSTONE REDEDICATION OF THE OROVILLE MASONIC LODGE NO. 1.03
