Whereas, this Board expresses its appreciation to Derek Ralston for his 24 years of dedicated
service to Butte County.
Whereas, Derek Ralston began his employment with Butte County at the Butte County Sheriffls
Office in January 1985, as a Correctional Officer.
In July of 1989 Derek was promoted to Senior Correctional Officer. In January 1990 he became aDeputy
Sheriff: In July of 1996 Derek was promoted to Sheriffs Sergeant. Derek played a major role in bringing
the Sheriff's office into the computer age and, in addition to other duties, maintained the computer systems
unti12002. As a Sergeant, Derek has supervised the Civil Division, Accounting and most recently Court
Security. Derek was well respected and will be sorely missed.
Whereas, after serving the citizens of Butte County for 24 years, Derek Ralston is retiring on
April 30`x.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors on its own behalf, and
an behalf of the residents of the County of Butte:
That said Board expresses their deep appreciation for the unselfish dedication and devotion given
by Sherds Sergeant Derek Ralston during his career with the Butte County Sheriff s Office.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors this 21 St day of April, 2009 by the
following vote:
