RESOLUTION IN RECOGNITION OF PATTY SMITH
UPON RETIREMENT FROM
BUTTE COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF EMPLOYMENT AND SOCIAL SERVICES
WHEREAS, Patty Smith, Assistant Director of the Department of Employment
and Socia[ Services (DESS), has announced her retirement as of March 20, 2009; and
WHEREAS, Patty began her career with the County of Butte on March 30, 1978,
as a Cleric Typist in the Treasurers Office and then transferred two years later to DESS
as an Eligibility Worker. Thereafter she served in various positions of increasing
responsibility in the Eligibi[i#y, Employment and Social Service programs; and
WHEREAS, Patty provided strong leadership within the department and in the
community by encouraging and modeling a spirit of collaboration, cooperation and
excellent customer service; and
WHEREAS, Patty`s commitment to the fiscally responsible use of resources and
the relentless pursuit of new funding opportunities enabled the department to provide a
multitude of quality services to Butte County citizens; and
WHEREAS, Patty has devoted her career to improving the lives of children,
families and seniors and has taken great pride in her job as a public servant conducting
herself with the highest level of integrity and responsibility;
WHEREAS, Patty has served as a source of inspiration and strength by
consistently demonstrating a calm demeanor, sense of humor, and ability to turn every
challenge into an opportunity to (earn and improve;
WHEREAS, Patty has worked diligently far the past 31 years in the best interest
of Butte County and its citizens, earning the respect and confidence of the County
Administrative Office, her employees, and many county, state and community partners;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE 1T RESOLVED that the Board, on its own behalf and
on behalf of the citizens of Butte County, extends its appreciation for your many years of
dedicated service.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 23rd day of
June by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Dolan, Kirk, Lambert, Yamaguchi, and Chair Connelly
