WHEREAS, the County of Butte desires to continue a certain contract with the Victim Compensation
and Government Clairrxs Boazd to establish a process by which the County may pay verif ed
funerallburial expenses pending approval by the Boazd when a provider of funerallburial services is
unwilling to wait for reimbursement through the normal claims payment process, and pay verified
domestic violence relocation expense emergency awards; and,
WHEREAS, the California Victim Compensation and Government Claims Board has advanced Butte
County $40,000.00 in FY 2000-2001 to set up a revolving fund, as authorized by Government Code
6504, to pay qualifying claims,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Chief Probation Officer is authorized, on behalf of
the Butte County Board of Supervisors, to sign for the Joint Powers funding included with the California
Victim Compensation and Government Claims Board Funeral BuriallDomestic Violence Agreement, and
is further authorized to sign for the purpose of making any extension or amendment thereof.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the state funds received hereunder shall not be used to supplant
local funds that would in the absence of the California Victim Assistance Program be made available to
support the assistance of victims and witnesses of crime.
