well-adjusted adults through the support and nurturing of their parents; and
WHEREAS, The Mission of the Butte County Department of Child Support Services is
"CSS and Parents working together for Children"; and
WHEREAS, Butte County's child support program provides an important opportunity for
non-custodial parents to be a positive force in the lives of their children; and
WHEREAS, there are over 14,OOD cases in Butte County alone in which the services of the
Butte County Department of Child Support Services are required, in aver 12,52'1 of those cases
paternity has been established for the children, in over 12,541 of those cases child support orders
have been established and parents have paid over $11,119,000.04 toward the support of their
children during the current federal fiscal year; and
WHEREAS, Butte County is strongly committed to seeking ways to increase the efficiency
and effectiveness of its child support program by implementing innovative programs and systems;
and .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLOVED AND PROCLAIMED that the Board of
Supervisors of the County of Butte does hereby recognize the month of August 2049 as "Child
Support Awareness Month" and commends parents who regularly pay their child support and the
Department of Child Support Services for their steadfast commitment to improving the quality. of
life for Butte County's children.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of Butte, State of California, this
11th day of August, 2009 by a unanimous vote of all members present.
