HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-135.Resolution RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF BUTTE SUPPORTING THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION RECOVERY ACT "TIGER" PROGRAM GRANT APPLCIATION FOR THE STATE ROUTE 70 OPHIR RD INTERCHANGE PROJECT WHEREAS, the Butte County Boazd of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of California, support the Butte County Association of Governments {BCAG) American Recovery and Reinvestment Act {ARRA) -Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery "TIGER Discretionary Grant" proposal for the State Route 70/4phir Road Interchange Project; WHEREAS, Butte County is the largest County in California not yet served by a continuous four-lane freeway in California and as a result will be at a disadvantage in attracting businesses to the region; WHEREAS, the Butte County Board of Supervisors wish to communicate the urgency in acquiring economic stimulus funding to address the economic challenges faced by the region, as well as, the safety and operational concerns the project proposes to address, such as, the high rate of accidents and broadside collisions currently experienced by rural at-grade highways; SE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of California, that the Director of Public Warks is hereby authorized to submit on behalf of the County of Butte any supporting documentation for the State Route 70/4phir Road Interchange Project grant application efforts for the purpose of securing funds to the region.
