RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
OF THE COUNTY OF BUTTE, STATE OF CALIFORNIA ADOPTING A
POLICY WITH REGARD TO VOLUNTARY IRREVOCABLE WAIVER OF
SALARIES AND BENEFITS FOR ELECTED OFFICIALS
WHEREAS, in recognition that some elected officials may choose to voluntarily and
irrevocably waive portions of their compensation due to occasional economic challenges
experienced by the County; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors wishes to establish a Policy whereby elected
officials can submit voluntary irrevocable waivers of compensation; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 09-11 S did not include a waiver form for consistency
purposes or a clear mechanism for implementation; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors recognizes that each elected official should have
the opportunity to voluntarily offer savings to the County in a way that meets their
individual circumstance;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Resolution No. 09-118 is hereby
rescinded;
BE 1T FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors authorizes the Chief
Administrative Officer to accept voluntary irrevocable waivers of compensation from
elected officials on a form approved by the Board of Supervisors and attached to this
Resolution entitled: "Compensation Waiver Form -Elected Official";
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED AND ORDERED that these voluntary waivers shall be
irrevocable for the time period specified therein;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED AND ORDERED that the Director -Human Resources
is authorized to honor the signed and completed waivers from elected off vials for payroll
processing and nothing herein shall authorize a reduction of salary rate for any purpose
including retirement.

PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of
California, at its regular meeting held on the 29th day of September, 2009, by the
following vote:
AYES: SUPERVISORS DOLAN, KIRK, LAMBERT, YAMAGUCHI, AND CHAIR CONNELLY
NOES: NSA
ABSENT: N/A
NOT VOTYNG: NSA
