RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
OF THE COUNTY OF BUTTE, STATE OF CALIFORNIA ADOPTING A
POLICY WITH REGARD TO VOLUNTARY WAIVER OF SALARIES AND
BENEFITS FOR APPOINTED DEPARTMENT HEADS AND
NONREPRESENTED EMPLOYEES
WHEREAS, in recognition that some appointed department heads and nonrepresented
employees may choose to voluntarily waive portions of their compensation due to
occasional economic challenges experienced by the County; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors wishes to establish a Policy whereby appointed
department heads and nonrepresented employees can submit voluntary waivers of
compensation if they chose to do so; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors recognizes that each appointed department head
and nonrepresented employee should have the opportunity to voluntarily offer savings to
the County in a way that meets their individual circumstance;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors authorizes the
Chief Administrative Officer to accept voluntary waivers of compensation from
appointed departrr~ent heads and nonrepresented employees on a form approved by the
Board of Supervisors and attached to this Resolution entitled: "Compensation Waiver
Form -Appointed Department Head and Nonrepresented Employee";
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED AND ORDERED that these voluntary waivers shall be
effective for the tune period specified therein;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED AND ORDERED that the Director -Human Resources
is authorized to honor the signed and completed waivers from appointed department
heads and nonrepresented employees for payroll processing and nothing herein shall
authorize a reduction of salary rate for any purpose including retirement.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of
California, at its regular meeting held on the 29th day of September, 2009, by the
following vote:
