RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING OCTOBER AS
DISABILITY EMPLOYMENT AWARENESS MONTH
WHEREAS, the Butte County Board of Supervisors recognizes and appreciates the contributions
made by persons with disabilities to the Butte County work force, and to the residents of Butte County;
and
WHEREAS, the year 2009 marks the 19~` anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act
(ADA) of 1990, a landmark civil rights legislation prohibiting discrimination against persons with
disabilities; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors recognizes that the unemployment rate among persons
with disabilities is several times that of the population in general; and
WHEREAS, the United States Congress has designated the month of October as National
Disability Employment Awareness Month; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors is dedicated to equal employment opportunity for alI
people, including persons with disabilities;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that this Board, on its own behalf and on behalf of
the residents of Butte County, proclaims the month of October 2009 as Disability Employment
Awareness Month.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of
California, this 29rhday of ~~ 2009 by the following vote:
