DiGrazia Upon His Retirement as Manager of the Silver Dollar Fair WHEREAS, Tom DiGrazia has been involved in 4-H and Future Farmers of America since his youth. His involvement with fairs started in 1959 as a livestock exhibitor showing his swine prof ect at the Cow Palace; and WHEREAS, upon graduation from high school, Tom joined the U.S. Army, serving a tour in Vietnam during the conflict there; and WHEREAS, after his military service, Tom attended Santa Rosa Junior College and then CSU, Chico, graduating in June 1975 with a degree in Agriculture. He completed his credential in Agricultural Education, and maintains a Lifetime Teaching Credential; and WHEREAS, in 1975, he was hired as Manager of the Modoc District Fair in Cedarville. He worked there until 1982 when he accepted the position of Secretary-Manager of the Silver Dollar Fair in Chico; and WHERAS, Tom is recognized as the longest serving fair manager in the State of California after 34 years; and WHEREAS, During Tom's tenure, he has rightfully received numerous awards and recognitions at the state and local level for his accomplishments and outstanding service to the community; and WHEREAS, Tom has served on various committees advising the California Department of Agriculture, Division of Fairs and Expositions as well as the Director of Food and Agriculture; and WHEREAS, while managing the Silver Dollar Fair, Tam always showed respect for the individuals, families and businesses located in the neighborhoods adjoining the fairgrounds; and NOW, THEREFORE BE 1T RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors hereby recognizes Tom A. DiGrazia, Retiring Secretary-Manager of the Silver Dollar Fair.
