HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-178Resolution RESOLUTION IN APPRECIATION OF PERRY L. RENIFF Whereas, this Board expresses its appreciation to Perry L. Ren~for his 37 years of dedicated service to the Butte County Sheriff's Office. Whereas, Perry L. Reniff began his law enforcement career with the Butte County Sheriffs Office as a Records and Identification Technician in 1972. In 1974 he was promoted to the rank of Deputy Sheriff: Over the course of the almost four decades that followed, Deputy Rendworked his way up through the ranks of the Sheriff's Office, culminating with his election to the Office of Sheriff/Caraner on December 31, 2002. Along this sometimes tortured road, he managed multi-million dollar budgets, supervised and trained a number of young deputy sheriff's, managed the Civil, Corrections and Operations activities of the Office, and maintained effective, meaningful communications with a variety of civic, private and public organizations. Throughout his career, at whatever position or rank he held, Perry L. Renif~'distinguished himself by his sincere dedication to the personnel of the Butte County Sheriff's Office, and the citizens of Butte County. He was first and foremost, an investigator of great tenacity, from his patrol time in Berry Creek to the major investigations he conducted while assigned to the Felony Tnvestigatians Unit. His skills as an investigator have "set the bar" for all who are honored by and tasked with the Investigator title. But beyond his investigative talents, Sher~Perry L. Reniffhas given to this Office a dimension that has been, and will remain, of far greater significance to all of us: Sher~Perry L. Ren~has instilled in and demanded of his personnel, an abiding belief in the "Golden Rule;" that everyone deserves respect, and treatment just a little better than we ourselves expect. Sher~Perry L. Reniff is also a forward thinking and innovative law enfarcement professional, bringing to the Butte County Sheriff s Office such programs as the Designated Area Deputy Program, the S.T.A.R.S. program and the Methamphetamine Strike Force. All of these efforts are well founded in the philosophy of, and will continue in the best spirit of, quality service to all of the citizens of our county. Whereas, there is no question that Perjy's chosen profession and unwavering dedication have improved the quality of life that we ali enjoy as a community. His tenacity, common sense and loyalty have benefitted all who have worked with and been served by him. Whereas, after serving the citizens of Butte County for 37 years, Perry L. Rends retiring on December 30, 2009. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors on its own behalf, and on behalf of the residents of the County of Butte: That said Board expresses their deep appreciation for the unselfish dedication and devotion given by Sheriff Perry L. Rendduring-his career with the Butte County Sheriff's Office.
