WHEREAS, Gerry Grandstaff, Principal Property Appraiser, announced his retirement as of
December 30, 2009; and
WHEREAS, Gerry Grandstaff began his career in the Assessor's Office on October 24, 1977 as
an Appraiser I, advancing within the department, holding the positions of Appraiser II, Appraiser III, and
Senior Appraiser; and
WHEREAS, Gerry Grandstaff served as a Butte County Employees' Association shop steward
and is a past member of the Board of Directors of that institution; and
WHEREAS, Gerry Grandstaff served his community as a member of the Americana Corvette
Club, which among other charitable acts, delivers toys to Esplanade House and the Jesus Center, and as a
member of the Knights of Columbus at Our Divine Savior Catholic Church; and
WHEREAS, Gerry Grandstaff was among those responsible for innovating the Assessor's Office
subdivision valuation policy and epitomizes that Department's commitment to excellent customer service;
and
WHEREAS, Gerry Grandstaff diligently served the residents of the County of Butte for thirty-
two years and two months with extraordinary dedication;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that this Board, on its own behalf, and on behalf of
the residents of the County of Butte, wish to express to Gerry Grandstaff sincere appreciation for his many
years of unselfish dedication and outstanding service rendered to the residents of the County of Butte, and
further wish him well on his retirement.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of
California, this 12th day of January, 2010 by the following vote:
