Whereas, this Board expresses its appreciation to .Tames LaPorte for his 32 years of dedicated
service to Butte County.
Whereas, James LaPorte began his employment with the Butte County Sheriff's Office in August
1977, as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff. In September of 1987 James was hired by the Butte County Sheriff's
Office as a regular Deputy Sheriff. James completed the Butte College Law Enforcement Academy in
December of 1987. James was promoted to Sheriff's Sergeant in December of 1995. James has worked a
variety of assignments in the Sheriff s Office, working as a patrol deputy, correctional officer, field
training officer, rangemaster, sheriff's mounted posse Ieader, and patrol supervisor. James received many
accolades during his career, including the "10$51" award for his recovery of 13 stolen vehicles during
1988 and 1999. James was well respected by his coworkers and the community and was an integral part of
the sheriff's team that will be sorely missed.
Whereas, after serving the citizens of Butte County for 32 years, James LaPorte is retiring on
December 31, 2009.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors on its own behalf, and
on behalf of the residents of the County of Butte:
That said Board expresses their deep appreciation for the unselfish dedication and devotion given
by Sergeant James LaPorte during his career with the Butte County Sheriff's Office.
FASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors this 12`'` Day of January 2010 by the
fallowing vote:
