HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-016RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING IN BUTTE COUNTY Resolution WHEREAS, poverty and the accompanying symptoms of hunger, sickness, homelessness and erosion of freedom and independence are serious problems for thousands of Butte County residents; from November 2008 - October 2009 a monthly average of over 11,000 people came to the Butte Community Employment Centers seeking assistance; and WHEREAS, Employment Services & Eligibility staff are required to perform a multitude of tasks on a daily basis that require excel lent skills in business, casework and communication, and the use of compassion in dealing with those citizens who rely on temporary public assistance, which is nearly 1 in 4 Butte County residents; and WHEREAS, Employment Services & Eligibility staff assisted nearly 900 families transition from temporary public assistance to self sufficiency through employment; and WHEREAS, Employment Servlces & Eligibility staff in Butte County promote a superior level of service to the citizens of Butte County by providing excellent customer service and preserving the dignity of children, families and' adults; WHEREAS, Employment Services & Eligibility staff are faced with a constantly changing, complex at-t•ay of federal, state and county programs, yet have maintained superior professional results and delivered outstanding services; and WHEREAS, Employment Services & Eligibility staff are assisted in the performance of their duties by a variety of 1~ighly-skilled administrative support and supervisory staff; and WHEREAS, it is important that all citizens of Butte County recognize the important services which Employment Services & Eligibility staff provide to citizens throughout our county, state and nation. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors that the County honors its Employment Services & Eligibility staff, Supervisors and Administrative Support staff by proclaiming January 24 through January 30, 2010 as Employment & Eligibility Staff Recognition Week in Butte County.
