WHEREAS, Chief Henri Brachals began his career with the California Department of
Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FlRE), then known as the Division of Forestry, in 9969 as a
seasons! firefighfer in the Tuolumne/Calaveras Unit; and
WHEREAS, In 9979 Chief Brachals was promoted to permanent Fire Apparatus
Engineer in the Tulare Unit; and
WHEREAS, !n 1976 Chief Brachals promoted to Fire Captain in the San 8ernardina Unit
and in 9981 was a Fire Captain Specialist, arson investigator,' and
WHEREAS, In 9984 Chief Brachals became a member of fhe CAL FIRE Arson
Investigation Unit and was instruments! in the investigation of severs! major arson cases and
subsequent arson arrests; and
WHEREAS, in 1988 Chief Brachals promofed to Fire Prevention Offrcer I in the San
Bernardino Unit; and
WHEREAS, in 9993 Chief Brachals transferred to Butte County as the Butte County Fire
Department Fire Prevention Bureau Chief,' and
WHEREAS, in 1999 Chief Brachals promoted to Division Chief in the Buffe County Fire
Department/CAL FIRE, and

WHEREAS, in 2003 Henri Brachais promoted to Chief of the Butte County Fire
Department/CAL FIRE, a position he held until his retirement December 3Q 2Q09 after a 40 year
fire service career.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Butte County Board of Supervisors
recognizes and commends Chief Henri Brachais for his service to the citizens of California, Butte
County and the Butte County Fire Department.
