Home My WebLink About10-031resolution RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ABANDONMENT OF THE FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM WITHIN COUNTY SERVICE AREA 1.79 -CHAMBERS AND SPEEDWAY SUBDIVISION, AND ENDORSING THE USE OF CALWATER'S FIRE HYDRANTS FOR THE USE OF FIRE PROTECTION WHEREAS, County Service Area 179 -Chambers and Speedway Subdivision was formed in September 2002 per Butte County Resolution 02-122 and 02-119 and LAFCo Resolution 09 2002/2003 to provide the operation and maintenance of storm drainage facilities, fire protection facilities and street lighting services for 17 residential parcels; and WHEREAS, storm drainage maintenance and street lighting services have never been provided, and only the fire protection facilities are maintained in the County Service Area; and WHEREAS, there are two working fire hydrant systems- one from County Service Area 179 and another from Cal Water located in County Service Area 179; anal WHEREAS, the majority of property owners within the County Service Area agreed and signed a petition to abandon the County Service Area fire hydrant system; and WHEREAS, the Butte County Fire Department supports the petition and certifies the usage of Cal Water's fire hydrants will not lessen the f re protection services currently being provided within County Service Area 179. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF BUTTE, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, as follows: 1. The petition of agreement to abandon the fire protection system within County Service Area 179- Chambers and Speedway Subdivision and to endorse the use of Cal Water's fire hydrants located on Speedway Avenue far fre protection in the area is approved by the Board of Supervisors; and 2. The Butte County Fire Department is directed to proceed with the abandonment process including decommission and disposal of the related well, pumps, and hydrants.
