WHEREAS, a presidential proclamation in 1995 designated the first full week of April as National Public Health Week.
Each year since then the public health community has focused on issues that are important to improving the public's
health; and
WHEREAS, the American Public Health Association has declared Apri15-1 1, 2010, as National Public Health Week.
WHEREAS, this year's theme is "A Healthier America: One Community at a time; "and
WHEREAS, the Butte County Public Health Department will join other California counties and counties from around the
nation in observance of this year's Public Health Week; and
WHEREAS, public health professionals and others who work to promote public health in our communities provide an
important role in furthering the health and welfare of our residents, and their efforts are undertaken with genuine concern
and compassion and are worthy of commendation and appreciation; and
WHEREAS, during National Public Health Week, the County Public Health Department will take opportunities to further
educate the community about what Public Health does and how citizens can join together to create a healthier community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Butte County Board of Supervisors hereby recognizes April 5-11,
2010 as "Butte County Public Health Week," conunends the Public Health Department and others working in public
health for outstanding and dedicated service to the community, and encourages the residents of Butte County to learn
more about and understand the importance of working to create healthy communities in Butte County.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 30`~ day of March 2010 by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Dolan, Kirk, Lambert, Yamaguchi, and Ghair Connelly
