HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-056~esoIution RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF BUTTE TO APPROVE THE 2010 BASIN MANAGEMENT OBJECTTVES DEVELOPED BY THE BUTTE COUNTY WATER ADVISORY CONIlVIITTEE FOR THE SUB-INVENTORY AREAS OF BUTTE COUNTY IN ACCORDANCE WITH BUTTE COUNTY CODE CRAFTER 33A WHEREAS, the Legislature finds and declares that groundwater is a valuable natural resource in California and should be managed to ensure both its safe production and its quality; and WHEREAS, it is the intent of the Legislature through the passage of AB3030 (5tats 1992) codified as Water Code §10750 et secy. to encourage Iocal agencies to work cooperatively to manage groundwater resources within their jurisdictions; and WHEREAS, in February 2004 the County of Butte codified parameters for groundwater management in Chapter 33A of the Butte County Code,; and WHEREAS, the Board finds that the protection of the groundwater resource for beneficial use within the County is of major concern to the residents of the County for the protection of their health, welfare and safety; and WHEREAS, the Boazd further declares the benef cial use and maintenance of the groundwater and protection. of recharge zones is of critical importance to the economy and environment of the County; and WHEREAS, it is the intent of Chapter 33A that there be one {1) countywide adaptive management plan, incorporating all specific Basin Management Objectives for the individual sub inventory units; and WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors adopted the original countywide Butte County Basin Management Objectives on July 25, 2006, and WHEREAS, the members of the Butte County Water Advisory Committee and the Butte County Water Commission have voted to present this 2010 countywide adaptive management plan to the Boazd of Supervisors for approval; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte hereby adopt the Butte County Basin Management Ob3ectives €or 2010 for the identified sub-inventory areas ofButte County.
