RESOLUTION IN RECOGNITION OF SCOTT RUTHERFORD, BUILDING DIVISION
MANAGER, UPON RETIREMENT FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF DEVELOPMENT
SERVICES, BUILDING DIVISION, COUNTY OF BUTTE
WHEREAS, Scott Rutherford, Building Division Manager, Department of
Development Services, Building Division, County of Butte, announced his retirement
with his fast date of employment on May 7th, 201 D; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Rutherford began his career with Butte County in 1984; and has
served Butte County, Building Division as a Building Inspector, a Building Official
Assistant and the Building Division Manager; and
WHEREAS, in Mr. Ruthertard's twenty-six years of service, he has witnessed
numerous changes in Butte County including the adoption of the first International
Building Code to be used in California, The 2007 California Building Code; and
WHEREAS, during Mr. Ruthertord's tenure with Butte County, Scott supervised
and managed the Building Division through the most expansive growth period Butte
County has ever experienced, while still assuring that timely inspections and the highest
level of customer service was still provided to the residents of the County; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Rutherford has served as a member of several professional
organizations throughout his career, including the Sacramento Valley Association of
Building Officials (SVABO), County Building Officials Association of California (CBOAC),
and California Association of Building Officials (CALBO), utilizing these professional
memberships to further the knowledge and expertise of the Building Division staff; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Rutherford has demonstrated through his daily actions, what it
means to be a proud member of the Butte County, Department of Development
Services, Building Division Staff; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Rutherford worked diligently for the past twenty six years in the
best interest of Butte County, and their citizens, helping to make these communities
better, and safer places to live;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE !T RESOLVED, that this Board, on its own behalf, and
on behalf of the residents of the County of Butte, wishes to express to Scott Rutherford
sincere appreciation for his dedication and outstanding service rendered to the
residents of the County of Butte, and further wishes him warmest regards upon his
retirement.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 11t~'
day of May, 2010 by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Dolan, Kirk, lrambert, Yamaguchi, and Chair Connelly
