HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-116RESOLUTION FIXING TAX RATES IN THE COUNTY OF BUTTE FOR FTSCAL YEAR 2410-201~1 WHEREAS, Califarnia Constitution Article XIFI-A as approved by the ~oters as Proposition I3 at the June 6, 1978 p~mary election, provides that property taxes levied on county assessed real property shall not exceed one percent (1.0%) of its full taxable value except faz- amounts rec~uired to meet payments on voter approved deht and assessments le~ied an ot~er than an ad valorem base; and WHEREAS, the State Legislature has enacted statutes ta implement the provisions af said Article XIII-A; and WHEREAS, Section 93 of the Revenue and Taxation Code provides that no taxing entity ath~r than the County shaIl levy an ad ~alorem property tax except for the amounts needed to rr~ake annual paymenfis on general obligation bonds or other indebtedness approved by the voters px-ior to ruly 1, 1978; and WHEREAS, Section 135 and 93 of the Revenue and Taxation Code provide that the County shall Ievy an ad valorem property tax on all tax~able value at a rate equal to one dollar ($i.00) per one hundred dollars {$140.00} of full.taxable value, and that the revenue from such tax levy shall be distributed to all of the taxing entities within the County in accordance with prevailing statutes; and WHEREAS, amounts needed for annual voter approved debt payments, and the respective tax rates requi~-ed to raise such ar~ounts, have been detezmined by the County Auditor; and ~ WHEREAS, it is incumbent on the Board of Supervisors to fix the tax rates for certain en~zCies within the County, pursuant to Article 5, Di~ision 3, Title 3 {Section 29100 et seq} of the Gove~ment Code, for the 2010-2011 fiscal year; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors af the County of Butte, State of California, as follaws: 1. Tk~at said Board does hereby fix a rate of one dollar {$1.00) per one hu~dred doilars ($140.00) of fuil taxable value to be a~plied to the total taxable pxoperty included on 2010-2011 Secured Property Tax Roil as com:piled by the County Assessor and the State Boa~rd o~Equalization. 2. That the revenues derived from said tax rate and levy shall be disri~buted to the ~arious taxing entities in the County, as prescribed by statute, by the County Auditor; and 3. That said Board does hereby f x various tax rates per one h~dred dollars ($ I~0.00} o~ full taxable value, as hereinafter set ~orth in exhibit "A", to be appiied ~o the taxable values witl~in the boundaries of the respective entities an the 20I0-2011 Secured Properiy Tax Roll, as coz~r~pzled by the County Assessor and the State Board of Equalization, ta raise revenues to zneet annual payznents on voter approved bands and other indebtedness. Revenues deri~ed fram such tax rates and le~ies shall be distributed to the various entities ~ursuan~ ~o prevailing law.
