RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING
THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER 2010 AS
NATIONAL EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS MONTH
WHEREAS, "National Emergency Preparedness Month" creates an important opportunity for
every resident of Butte County to prepare their homes, businesses and communities for any type
of emergency from natural disasters to potential terrorist attacks; and
WHEREAS, investing in the preparedness of ourselves, our families, businesses and
communities can reduce fatalifies and economic devastation in our communities and in our
nation; and
WHEREAS, Butte County Public Health Department and the Butte County Offce of
Emergency Management encourage individuals to prepare for emergencies in their homes,
businesses and communities by taking simple steps such as compiling emergency supply kits,
making emergency plans, and engaging in community preparedness and response efforts; and
WHEREAS, Butte County Public Health Department and the Butte County Office of
Emergency Management work to meet the needs of the community by educating individuals,
planning for appropriate responses to disasters and preparing to respond to emergencies and
disasters whether they be natural or man made.
NOW, THEREFORE, SE IT RESOLVED that the Board of supervisors hereby recognizes the
month of September 2010 as National Emergency Prepazedness Month.
PASSED AND. ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 24~' day of August
2010 by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Dolan, Kiric, Lambert, Yamaguchi and Chair Connelly
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
NOT VOTING: None
