HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-132Resolution RESOLUTION OF THE BUTTE COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS AUTHORIZING AN APPLICATION FOR FUNDING UNDER PROP 84 ON BEHALF OF THE NORTHERN SACRAMENTO VALLEY INTEGRATED REGIONAL WATER MANAGEMENT GROUP, WHICH WAS ESTABLISHED THROUGH THE FOUR COUNTY MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING AND ADDENDUMS ONE THROUGH FOUR, TO DEVELOP AN INTEGRATED REGIONAL WATER MANAGEMENT PLAN FOR THE COUNTIES OF BUTTE, COLUSA, GLENN, SHASTA, BUTTER AND TEHAMA WHEREAS, on March 29, 2010 the Butte County Boazd of Supervisors unanimously approved Addendum Four to the Four County Memorandum of Understanding (MOU); and WHEREAS, under Addendum Four, the Counties of Butte, Colusa, Glenn, Shasta, Sutter and Tehama have made a commitment to adhere to the conditions of the Four County Memorandum of Understanding, Addendum One to the Four County MOU: Statement of Principles Regarding Water Related Programs and Projects; Addendum Two: Adding Sutter County to the Four County MOU; and Addendum Three: Expression of a Commitment to Begin An Integrated Regional Water Management Planning Process Within the Counties of Butte Colusa, .Glenn, Tehania and Sutter; Addendum Four: adding Shasta County and renaming the effort as the Northern Sacramento Valley Integrated Regional Water Management Group; and WHEREAS, in this same action on March 29, 2010, the Board of Supervisors authorized staff to work in cooperation with the other counties to secure funding for the integrated regional water management planning effort; and WHEREAS, there is currently funding available under the Proposition 84 Integrated Regional Water Management Proposal Solicitation Package (PSP) for the development of an Integrated Regional Water Management Plan; and WHEREAS, the other counties have agreed to have Butte County serve as the applicant for the Regional Water Management Group for this funding opportunity; and WHEREAS, a requirement for submittal for the grant funding is a resolution designating an authorized representative by the applicant's governing body to file an application for funding and to enter into an agreement with the State of California to receive such funding. NOW, THEREFORE, SE YT RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte: 1. The Butte County Department of Water and Resource Conservation, by and through the signature of the Director, Paul Gosselin, is authorized to submit an application to the California Department of Water Resources to obtain an Jntegrated Regional Water Management Planning Grant pursuant to the Safe Drinking Water, Water Quality and Supply, Flood Control, River and Coastal Protection Bond Act of 2006 {Public Resources Code (PRC) 75001, et seg. on behalf of the Northern Sacramento Valley Regional Water Management Group. 2. The Butte County Department of Water and Resource Conservation, by and through the signature of the Director, Paul Gosselin, is authorized to enter into an agreement to receive a grant on behalf of the Northern Sacramento Valley Regional Water Management Group. 3. The Butte County Department of Water and Resource Conservation is hereby authorized and directed to prepaze the necessary date, conduct investigations, file such application, and execute a grant agreement with the California Department of Water Resources.
