HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-143Month resolution WHEREAS, violence against women and children continues to become more prevalent as asocial problem due to the imbalance of power due to gender and age; and WHEREAS, the problems of domestic violence are not confined to any groups or groups of people but cross all economic, racial, sexual orientation, and social barriers and supported by social indifference; and WHEREAS, the chime of domestic violence violates an individual's privacy, dignity, security, and humanity, due to systematic use of physical, emotional, sexual, psychological and economic control and/or abuse; and WHEREAS, the impact of domestic violence is wide ranging, directly affecting families, our communities and society as a whole; NOW, THEREFORE BE 1T RESOLVED, that the Butte County Board of Supervisors, hereby recognizes the month of October 2010 as Domestic Violence Awareness Month and urges all citizens to actively participate in the scheduled activities and programs sponsored by the Catalyst Domestic Violence Services to work toward the elimination of personal and institutional violence.
