Home My WebLink About10-164Resolution HOMELESSNESS AWARENESS WEEK IN BUTTE COUNTY WHEREAS, for the past several years the National Coalition for the Homeless and National Student Campaign Against Hunger and Homelessness have sponsored National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week; and WHEREAS, the purpose of the proclamation is to educate the public about the many reasons people are hungry and homeless including those identified in the 2010 Homeless Census; and to encourage support far homeless assistance service providers as well as community service opportunities for students and school service organizations; and WHEREAS, there are many organizations throughout the county committed to sheltering, providing supportive services as well as meals and food supplies to the homeless including those funded with HUD funds through the Butte Countywide Homeless Continuum of Care Council and other sources; and WHEREAS, the theme of Nationa! Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week 2010 is "Bringing America Home," and WHEREAS, the Butte County Board of Supervisors recognizes that hunger and homelessness continues to be a serious problem for many individuals and families in Butte County; and WHEREAS, the intent of National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week is consistent with the activities of the Butte Countywide Homeless Continuum of Care Council and that the Board of Supervisors encourages all citizens to recognize that many people do not have housing and encourage support from citizens of privatelpublic nonprofit service entities. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Supervisors hereby proclaims November 14-20, 2010 as Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week in Butte County.
