RESOLUTION IN RECOGNITION OF STUART "STU" EDELL
UPON RETIItEMENT FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS
WHEREAS, Stuart "Stu" Edell, Deputy Director, Land Development Division, for the
Department of Public Works, announced his retirement as of December 30, 2010; and
WHEREAS, Stu began his career with the County of Butte in 1975, as a Junior Civil Engineer,
transferring from the Planning Department to the Department of Public Works, advancing within the
Department to become a Deputy Director, his present position, where he supervises the department's
Land Development Division and handles all aspects of flood control; and
WHEREAS, Stu worked as a Junior Civi! Engineer, Civil Engineer Associate, Civil Engineer
Supervisor, the Deputy County Surveyor, and Deputy Director in the Public Works Department for many
years; and
WHEREAS, Stu received the County Engineers Association of California (CEAC) 2047
Regional Employee of the Year award, and the 2010 County Surveyor of the Year award;
WHEREAS, Stu has earned the respect of fellow employees, engineers, surveyors, contractors,
and others involved in Public Works activities in Butte County, and has diligently served the residents of
the County of Butte for thirty-five years and ten months, with distinction and leadership;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that this Bward, on its own behalf and on behalf of
the residents of the County of Butte, wish to express to Stu Edell sincere appreciation for his many years
of unselfish dedication and outstanding service rendered to the residents of the County of Butte, and
further wish him well on his retirement.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supezvisors of the County of Butte, State of
California, this 14"' day of December, 2010, by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Dolan, Kirk, Lambert, Yazaaguchi and Chair Connel~.y
