THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF $UTTE, STATE
OF CALIFORNIA, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION N0. 1
SUBJECT AND SHORT TITLE: The salaries and number of
positions of the officers and employees, of the Ceunty of
Butte, are fixed and determined as hereinafter set forth;
and the ordinance shall be known as the "Salary Ordinance".

be advanced at six month intervals upon recommendation of the
District Attorney or the County Counsel, and with approval of
the County Administrative Officer.
The positions of Psychiatrist, Psychologist, and Psychiatric
Social ~Jorker lY may be filled by less than full time persons in any
number, as long as the total aggregate time in each class of position
does not exceed the total number of authorized positions in that
class, as shown in Section 34.

Upon the recommendation of the sheriff ,and faith the
approval of the board of supervisors, a constable u~ho devotes
a substantial portion of his time to law enforcement ?cork under.
the direction of the sheriff may be paid compensation in c.ddition
to his salary as constable in an amoun-t ~,hich ~,rou1d cor.respcnd to
the salary he would earn as a deputy sheriff. The additional
compensation paid a constable shall be based upon merit and length
of service as set forth in sections 6.'7 and 6.8 of.tt~e Personnel
Rules.

SECTION N0. 5
Beginning July 1, I9b9, the classification, number and salary
range of positions authorized for each department or unit are
set foriih in the following sections. 1Qo department head shall
appoint more employees to a class of position than is provided
for, except that (1) a new employee may be appointed to a
position not more than ten (10) working days before the employee
he is replacing is separated; and (2) that the positions of
Clerk II, Steno Clerk II, and Account Clerk II, may be filled
with the lower classifications in each series.

PAYMENT OF SALARIES: The salaries of the officers, deputies,
clerks, and employees of the several departments and institutions
of the county shall be paid semi-monthly. Extra help employed by
departments and institutions of the county shall be limited to the
budgetary provisions therefor and such extra help shall also be
paid semi-monthly in the same manner as the officers, deputies,
clerks, and employees referred to above,
SECTION N0. 48
A11 other ordinances inconsistent with the provisions of this
ordinance are hereby repealed as of the operative date hereof
(July 1, 1969), provided specifically that provisions in all previous
ordinances relating to health insurance for elective and appointive
officers and employees of the County of Butte shall remain in full
force and effect.
SECTION N0. 49
EFFECTIVE DATE AND PUBLICATION: This ordinance shall take
effect on July 1, 1969, which date is in excess of thirty (30)
days after the date of its adoption. Before the expiration of
fifteen (15) days after its passage, this ordinance shall be
published once with the names of the members voting for and
against in a newspaper published in said County of Butte.

OF BUTTE, State of California, at a regular meeting thereof, on
