The collision involved a pickup truck that was carrying a 40 gallon aluminum diesel fuel tank in its truck bed. The subsequent damage caused by the collision to the fuel tank allowed 20 gallons of diesel gasoline to be spilled onto the south dirt drainage ditch of Forbestown Road. The result of this incident was the contamination of soil that stretched approximately 1 SO feet in length and 2-3 feet in width. The contamination showed no visible signs of contaminating any nearby waterways. CAL Fire representatives were on scene to conduct the cleanup using absorbent pads, and Butte County Road Service responded to the scene for removal of contaminated absorbent pads. The contamination by the diesel gasoline did not represent a significant hazard, and it did not cause risk or substantial injury to the public safety or health. This report is submitted on behalf of all designated employees of the Department of California Highway Patrol. Please feel free to contact my office if you have any questions. Sindrely, M.
