ORDINANCE N0. 1062
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCES NOS. 475 and 927
The Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte do ordain
as follows:
1. Section 2.6 of Ordinance No. 927. is hereby repealed.
2. Section 4-A is hereby added to Ordinance No. 475 to
read as follows:
SECTION 4-A. OFF-STREET PARKING. In all districts
established pursuant to thss Ordinance, the following
off-street parking requirements shall apply:
1. Residential uses:
a. Single family dwellings; two (2) spaces per
dwelling.
b. Multiple family. dwellings; two (2) spaces per
dwelling unit.
c. Boarding houses; one (1) space per guest room.
d. Motels; one (1) space per sleeping unit or
dwelling unit.
e. Hotels; one (1) space per bedroom.
f. Fraternities, sororities and dormitories de-
voted to housing students; to be determined
by the Planning Department based on the cir-
cumstances of each ease; however in no case
shall there be less than one and one-half (1 1/2)
spaces per each 100 square feet of sleeping
area. Where the total required area includes
a fraction, the next highest whole unit shall
be provided.
2. Institutional uses: ",
a. Hospitals and other similar uses involving
overnight care or treatment; one (1) space per
each three (3) beds set aside for such care or
treatment.
b. Elementary and Junior High Schools; one (i}
l; space for each employee and each faculty member.
'2' c. High Schools; one (1) space for each twenty
g' (20) students and one (1} space for each faculty
:4' member.
S d. Junior Coleges, Colleges and Universities;
g one (1) space for each ten (10} students and
,T one (1) space for each faculty member and
g: employee.
g; 3. Other uses:
10 a. Public or private permitted uses incorporating
11 indoor or outdoor assembly or spectator areas,
18 such as churches, mortuaries, lodge buildings,
13: clubhouses, auditoriums, theatres, stadiums,
14 arenas; one (1) space per each four fixed seats
15 in the assembly or spectator area, plus one (i)
16 space per each eight (8) feet of fixed bench,
17 length in the assemb~:y or spectator area, plus
18 one (1) space for each twenty-eight (28} square
19 feet of assembly or spectator area in which no
20 fixed seats or benches are maintained.
21 b. Passenger terminals; one (1} space per each
22 gross one hundred (100} square feet of waiting
23 room area.
24 The definition of "parking space", as it appears in
25 paragraph 25. of Ordinance No. 1002, shall apply to this section,
26 provided that, in the case of any of the uses described in ~.
27 above, the required parking space may be located off the use
Zg site and within a walking distance of three hundred (300) feet
29 therefrom.
30 Any proposed use which falls into more than one of the
g~ above categories shall be subject to the greater of the applicable
~~ off-street parking requirements. Zn addition, the Planning

Commission may require additional off-street parking for any
such use, the total amount so required not to exceed the combined
total of each separately applicable requirement.
The requirements of this ordinance shall supersede those of
any previous ordinance insofar as the requirements of this ordin-
ance are more stringent than those of the preceding ordinance.
The requirements of this ordinance shall not be retrospect-
ively applied to a structure or use existing on the date this ord-
inance becomes effective. The enlargement of any such pre-existing
structure or use shall subject only the enlarged portion to the
requirements of this ordinance.
This ordinance shall be, and is hereby declared to be in
full force and effect from and after thirty (30) days after the
date of•its passage, and before the expiration of fifteen (15)
days after its passage this ordinance shall be published once with
the names of the members of the Board of Supervisors voting for
and against it, in a newspaper of general circulation wit hin the
County of Butte.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of the
County of Butte, State of California, this 1~t~day of
December 1969, by the following vote:
