HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-016.Resolunion WHEREAS, a proclamation was issued on March 22, 1984 by President Ronald Reagan proclaiming March as National Social Work Month; and WHEREAS, social work provides the front line of defense in the system of services aimed at protecting children from neglect and abuse, in protecting the frail elderly and other dependent adults from neglect, abuse, and exploitation; and WHEREAS, social workers have the education and experience to guide individuals, families, and communities through complex issues and choices; and WHEREAS, social workers connect individuals, families and communities to available resources; and WHEREAS, social workers are dedicated to improving the society in which we live; and WHEREAS, social workers are positive and compassionate professionals; and WHEREAS, social workers advocate far others to make sure everyone has access to the same basic rights, protections, and opportunities; and WHEREAS, social workers help people help themselves, whenever and wherever they need it most; NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of California, hereby declare the month of March 2011 as Social Work Month in Butte County to honor these social workers for their commitment to the profession of social work; their dedication to the highest moral and ethical standards; their practice of social work with the competency of their profession; and their regard, as their primary obligation, for the welfare of the individuals and families served.
