WHEREAS, a presidential proclamation in 1995 designated the first full week of April as National Public Healtl~ Week.
Each year since then the public health community has focused on issues that -are important to improving the public's
health; and
WHEREAS, the American Public Healtl3 Association has declared Apri14-10, 2011, as National Public Health Week.
WHEREAS, this year's theme is "Safety is No Accident,- "and
WHEREAS, the Butte County Public Health Department will join other California counties and counties from around the
nation in observance of this year's Public Health Week; and
WHEREAS, public health professionals and others who work to promote public health in our communities provide an
important role in furthering the health and welfare of our residents, and their efforts are undertaken with genuine concern
and compassion and are worthy of commendation and appreciation; and
WHEREAS, during National Public Health Week, the County Public Health Department will take opportunities to further
educate the community about injury prevention measures and how citizens can join together to create a safer and healthier
community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Butte County Board of Supervisors hereby recognizes April 4-10,
2011 as "Butte County Public Health Week," commends the Public Health Department and others working in the field of
public health for outstanding and dedicated service to the community, and encourages the residents of Butte County to
join together to create safe and healthy communities in Butte County.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 29`x' day of March 2011 by the fallowing vote:
AYES: Supervisors Connelly, Wahl, Kirk, Yamaguchi, and Ghair Lambert
