California, Authorizing The Assessor To Use The County Website To Provide Value
Notices Pursuant To California Revenue And Taxation Code 621
WHEREAS, effective January 1, 2011, the California Legislature passed and the Governor signed
SB 1493 allowing assessors to post changes in the assessed value of real property ("value notices") on
County websites; and
and
WHEREAS, this resolution applies only to annual increases, if any, to Proposition 8 assessments;
WHEREAS, California Revenue and Taxation Cade Section 621 requires that in order to provide
value notices on a County website, assessors must first obtain the approval of the Board of Supervisors; and
WHEREAS, the electronic method of providing value notices is cost effective and provides
another means of notification in addition to the regular property tax mailing received by all property
owners;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Butte County Assessor is to provide value
notices to assessees of rea] property by posting the value notice on the county website commencing with
the 2011 tax year.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of
California, this 28th day of June, 2011 by the following vote:
