RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING
THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER 2011 AS
NATIONAL EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS MONTH
WHEREAS, "National Emergency Preparedness Month" creates an important opportunity for
every resident of Butte County to prepare their homes, businesses and communities for any type of
emergency from natural disasters to potential terrorist attacks; and
WHEREAS, investing in the preparedness of ourselves, our families, businesses and communities
can reduce fatalities and economic devastation in our communities and in our nation; and
WHEREAS, Butte County Public Health Department and the Butte County Office of Emergency
Management encourage the citizens of Butte County to prepare for emergencies in their homes,
businesses and communities by taking sir:r~ple steps such as compiling emergency supply kits,
developing emergency plans, and engaging in community preparedness and response efforts; and
WHEREAS, Butte County Public Health Department and the Butte County Office of Emergency
Management work to meet the needs of the community by educating individuals, planning for
appropriate responses to disasters and preparing to respond to emergencies •and disasters whether
they be natural or man made.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors hereby recognizes the
month of September 2011 as National Emergency Preparedness Month, and encourages all citizens
and businesses to develop their own emergency preparedness plan, and work together toward
creating a more prepared society.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 23`d day of August 2011
by the following vote:
