RESOLUTION IN RECOGNITION OF JOAN LIVELY
UPON RETIREMENT FROM
BUTTE COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF EMPLOYMENT AND SOCIAL SERVICES
WHEREAS, Jaan Lively, Senior Administrative Analyst, of the Department of
Employment and Social Services (DESS}, has announced her retirement as of October
7, 201'[ .
WHEREAS, Joan began her career with the County of Butte in January of 1978
as an Eligibility Worker I and moved up to a Social Worker (SW} for Child Protective
Services and for Adult Protective services. Thereafter ,she served in various positions
of increasing responsibility including: Chief Deputy Public Guardian,
ManagerlSupervisor of Public GuardianlPublic Administration, Senior Administrative
Analyst and as out of class Program Manager for Adult Services, and
WHEREAS, Joan provided excellent analytical skills, strong customer service
and thoughtful planning within the department and in the community to encourage and
model a spirit of cooperation, collaboration and excellent customer service; and
WHEREAS, Joan's commitment to being accountable fiscally was enhanced by
her ability to work competently with the budgets of several different programs, and
providing Notary Services and
WHEREAS, Joan has devoted her career to improving the lives of children,
families and seniors in our community through her tireless focus on meeting their needs
through her work and
WHEREAS, Joan's creative side showed in her crafts, clothing and handbags
that she created and sold in her spare time, and
WHEREAS, Joan has worked diligently for the past nearly 33.5 years in the best
interest of Butte County and its citizens, earning the respect and confidence of the
County Administrative Office, her employees, and many county, state and community
partners; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board, on its own behalf and
on behalf of the citizens of Butte County, extends its appreciation for your many years of
dedicated service.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this September
27th, 2011, by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Connelly, Wahl, Kirk, Yamaguchi and Chair lambert
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
NOT VOTING: None
