Pursuant to tine authority granted under g Section 9,5 of Article 13 of the Constitution of the State of 7 Cali~ornia and P.evenue and Taxation Cade Section 1620 et seq., g there is hereby established in the County of Butte an Assessment. g Appeals Board. 10 Section 21-51. The Beard shall consist of t~~ree members 11 directly appointed by the Board of Supervisors pursuant to the 12 previsions of Section 1622.1 of the Revenue and Taxation Code. As 13 n=aiZy alternate members as are necessary shall be appointed by 14 the Board of Supervisors to said Assessment Appeals Bcard. 15 Section 21-52. Thereafter assessment 28jappeals board members shall serve for terms of three years. 28 Section 21-53. Na person shall be qualified or appoint- 30~ed to the Assessment Appeals Hoard .,rho has been an employee of any 31'Iassessar's Office within. the past three years. Section 21-54. The rules of procedure, including all rules of evidence for hearings before the Assessment Appeals Board shall be as provided in Revenue and Taxation Code and rules promulgated by the State Board of :equalization. Section 21-55. The Assessment Appeals Board shall convene and organize as soon as convenient after the effective date of this ordinance and the appointment of board members. The Assessment Appeals Board shall select a chairman whc sha11 be ar, attorney, provided an attorney is appointed to the board. The chairman shall rule on all questions of evidence and procedure, provided however, any of his rulings are subject to re;°ersal by majority vote of the board. Section 21-56. ~'ach board member shall be paid $75.00 for each. day that the Assessment Appeals Board is in session except that in tiZe event the Assessment Appeals Board is in session for one-half day or less the compensation for each board member in such event is $40.00 per day. When an alternate member is sitting on the Assessment Appeals Board he shall receive the same compensation as a regular board member and provided further that no compensation shall be paid to any board member unless the particular board member is actually sitting ~ on the Assessment Appeals Board while in session. Necessary ~! travel expenses shall be paid as determined by the Board of 26I Supervisors. 27I Section 21-57. This ordinance shall take effect thirty (30) days after the date of its adoption and before the expiration of fifteen (15) days after its passage shall be published once with the came of the members voting for and against in a newspaper published in said County of Butte.
